Hello, and welcome to Acier Doux , what can you say to the readers, to let them know about the current activities of Just One Fix?

Hey man, we have just released our EP, ‘Submit or Death’, and are playing shows around New Zealand while expanding our fanbase around the world – it’s great to be able to talk to metalheads from around the world, like yourself, and make these connections. Metal truly is a Universal language.

Your album “The Price of $ellvation” was recently re-released, I imagine you’re still proud of this?

Yeah, I think so, I mean I think we are better at what we do now, both as musicians and writers but the essence is still there. It’s a big part of our journey being our debut album. You listen back and think this could be better or I would’ve done that differently but it’s a moment in time right?

In your heavier moments, your riffs aren’t so far from Death Metal sometimes, even if the inside of the feeling is different.. Do you enjoy some Death Metal bands?

Oh yeah, big fans of Obituary, Carcass, early Entombed, Vader, Deicide. New Zealand has some great Death Metal bands too – check out Dark Divinity, Plague of the Fallen, Utilize the Remains and Blindfolded and Led to the Woods.

What does underground Metal mean for you? Is it more about discovering many new and small bands, is it more about contacting people involved in extreme music?

It’s all of that, it’s a real community. I remember hearing Hellripper for the first time before they were where they are now, still one of my favorite bands and it’s easier to connect with the people making that music and when they grow and achieve things, in a way, you feel a part of that as an early fan or supporter – buying downloads or merch etc. it all helps.

What does Thrash Metal mean for you?

Wow what a question, ummm it’s a feeling really. I hear thrash metal, whether it’s us or Testament or Kreator, and I feel good, it lifts my mood. Maybe Metallica said it best with that line in Whiplash – Adrenaline it starts to flow! I feel good, empowered and like I can achieve anything.

Now let’s talk a bit about New Zealand. What was the first Thrash Metal band in your country?

Great question, I’m not 100% sure on the first but Confessor I think, they’re one of the first I remember. Shihad started as a thrash band, had a real early Metallica vibe on their first EP.

Are you touring ?

In New Zealand yeah and looking at dates in Australia at the moment.

Which bands kicked your ass a lot the last months and really impressed you? Is it always Thrash Metal bands that can be very impressive for you?

Angelus Apatrida from Spain, they toured here recently, and we played with them – blew my mind, what a band! Also Hidden Intent from Australia and a couple of local Death Metal bands we have played with, Imperial Slave and Deadhouse Gates. It’s not always Thrash though, I saw Orange Goblin recently and it’s one of the best live experiences ever – great band and a whole different pace but a singer songwriter called Amigo the Devil, great performer and storyteller.

What are the next plans with Just One Fix ? Something to announce to the morbid readers? Thanks for the answers.

We are writing new material and continuing to push the EP, Submit or Death, we have had some really good reviews and are getting airplay from the US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, UK and Australia so we will keep riding that wave while it’s there. Jump on our Spotify and follow us (we have a couple of sick covers on there from Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne) or download the records from our Bandcamp – we really appreciate the support!!
