As usual , Acier Doux Metal Management & Promotions Tunisia Proudly present to our  Followers a great  Skin the Lamb ( Death Metal From USA) Interview with Andy Gregor ( Vocals) and Parker Yowell ( Drums) ….
Hello! How are you? How are things over there ?Â
Good morning! Things in North Dakota are good! The weather is starting to warm up so that will put a little pep in everyone’s step! Thank you for taking the time to get to know Skin the Lamb! – Andy Gregor
How and when did you decide to form Skin the Lamb ?
Skin the Lamb has always been a dream of mine. Although the name is relatively new, the idea behind the band has been in the works since I was probably 12 years old. Fast forward to the spring of 2014 when I met Parker Yowell through Kevin Talley(ex Suffocation, ex Dying Fetus). Parker and I started kicking around the idea of putting together somewhat of a super group of artists we respect and admire and the rest is history. Skin the Lamb was born! Â – Andy GregorÂ
Can you tell me more about the new Album ?Â
We’re in the process of writing and recording our full length record. We have a lot of guest musicians including Andy Thomas of Black Crown Initiate, Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation, Sean Z of Sinsaenum and many more people to be announced at a later date. I will say that the record will have 11 songs on the digital download version and 12 on the physical copy. The full length is also in a way a concept album. It’s going to be dark, but it will have moments where it is more upbeat before transitioning back into a darker, heavier section. I wrote it as a whole so it listens best from start to finish like a story rather than a bunch of individual songs. We are hoping to have it out this year, though. – Parker Yowell
How would you describe your band sound and which elements in your music do you thing make you stand out ?
I honestly don’t like to try and describe our sound because it inevitably leads us back to trying to pick a genre. I’ve heard us described as deathcore, thrash, death metal..which might be accurate for the EP, but the full length has a lot of elements from various subgenres of metal. I think what makes us stand out is the fact that a lot of the parts are memorable. I don’t try and get technical just to cram notes into a bar, so I think it’s easy to get in a groove to the music. – Parker Yowell
Who writes the lyrics in the band? Can you tell us which the lyrical theme of each song that you have included in your new album is?Â
Andy and Sean Z are the primary writers. However, the guest vocalists on the upcoming record will be writing their sections, so technically we will have around 7 lyricists on the next one. Lyrically we are at the beginning stages of writing. The overall theme of the record is going to dark, however each vocalist will bring their own style to our sound. Each of the vocalists has a unique style and a lot of them have concept albums with their own bands, so I’m looking forward to their influence on this record. – Parker Yowel
How do you feel about your album? Is there anything that you would like to change or do differently?
The new record is coming along great so far. I’ve got all the guitars written and recorded, so I’m working on tracking all the vocalists. After that I’ll be in the studio doing drums, Jeff Hughell of Six Feet Under will be returning on bass, and JF Dagenais of Kataklysm will be engineering the record again as well. As far as changing things, I haven’t really changed so much as expanded. Like I said before, on the EP I only had 4 songs to work so I had to keep them fairly similar in style, but this time around I have about an hour’s worth of material. I personally like bands that don’t release albums that sound completely the same, so there are elements from the EP but I’ve also focused more on writing an album that is unique but blends as a whole. From an engineering stand point I’m going to be working to get a slightly different guitar tone and will be working on drum tones much more. Because I have a lot more time to work on everything I can really focus in with JF on how the record sounds sonically. – Parker Yowell
