For those who do not know this band, they are from Italy and have four albums plus a pair of EPs. What these boys practice is Epic Heavy Metal, with many influences from bands like Manowar, Virgin Steele and Warlord.
“Darkness shall prevail”, as well as his previous work, is a conceptual work, this time based on the work of Tolkien, The Silmarillion. From the first second that the album sounds you are immersing in an already extinct world, because each song has its own spirit. Here the melody dominates the guitar solos that spill sentiment and atmospheres worthy of old battles between elfs and orcs. Here there is no place for songs to sound on the radio; “Darkness shall prevail” is True Heavy Metal.
The album opens “Shore of Elenna” an intro with war drums and battle songs and is the gateway to the great “Numenor”, an epic song by far. Half-time rhythms, sharp and melodic guitars, with Alessandro Mereu demonstrating that he should not have a prodigious voice to sing with much feeling… And so cannon shot behind cannon shots “Heroic deeds”, “Dol Guldur”, “Darkness descend”, etc. Impossible to highlight a single song, because the entire album is a great work that could sound like soundtrack, in the battle where all the false and posers will die. Recommended band, recommended disc …pure epic magic
