THE CLAYMORE was founded in Summer 2000 by Hardy Kölzer, Sebastian Busacker, Christian Köhle and Kai Schwittek. In 2002 the renowned Rock Hard magazine became aware of the band and elected them as the winner of the Drum Demo Listening Session in the same year. The first album “Monument” was released by MMM Records in December 2003.
THE CLAYMORE has already appeared with Rage, U.D.O., AXXIS, Tankard, Squealer, Freedom Call, Angel Dust, Dew Scented and Mystic Prophecy.
In May 2008 the very time consuming work began on the album “Sygn” which was concluded in September of the same year. The band signed their second record contract with Giant Entertainment in September 2008. The hard work had been worthwhile: In 2008 THE CLAYMORE were represented on the Dynamite Compilation of the Rock Hard October edition with their song “Soulseeker”. In the same year the band opened the Rock Hard Festival at which other bands like Iced Earth, Queensryche,Testament, Immortal and the Apokalyptischen Reitern also appeared.
The third album “Damnation Reigns” appeared under Giant Entertainment at the beginning of 2010. The band really brought their strengths to the point on this album and managed to win renowned musicians like Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth) and Victor Smolski (Rage) to add guest contributions. The song “Behind Enemy Lines” managed to get on the “Lauschangriff Sampler” of the Rock Hard magazine. During this year THE CLAYMORE made their first large tour of Germany and Austria as the support band for W.A.S.P.
After headliner shows in Germany further ones followed in Rumania, Italy, Belgium and Holland and further performances with Primal Fear, Pretty Maids, Tarot, Mob Rules.
After 13 years, 3 regular studio albums and numerous live shows, the singer Andreas Grundmann left THE CLAYMORE in December 2011. After long, intensive searching the band was again completed by the extremely talented singer Mike Krush at the beginning of 2013.
this new release by the German band, The Claymore, is true 80’s classic Metal, both in sound and style, yet in the end, it is a powerful release. the Damnation Rigns is the great mixed album between the old school and Modern Power Metal , The Claymore had the chance to give more an example for future Heavy Metal
The Claymore’s Heavy Metal, added with elements of modern Power Metal al’a their country peers, Brainstorm, is polished, depthy, catchy with taste, musically heavy and aggressive, melodic while not giving up on the 80’s Metal breeding house. On several sections and passages the album, the music showin g to be similar to modern Melodic Death orientations, but when the melodic vocals starts spreading, the true source of the music is unfold. The four leading tracks of the album, “Behind Enemy Lines” (Highly performed with guest appearance by the ultimate Tim “The Reaper” Owens), “Children Of The Nile”, “Return To Zero” and “Silent Scorn” attracted attention with their diversity between modern Metal to older styles of the music , with the powerfull Wasp Cover Chainsaw Charlie .The Claymore Band makes a music between the Old early days and the Modern one , get more the chance for Tours over the Worldwide .
