Valkyrie w/ Valletta , High Crime & Akris
A doom metal/hard rock band from Harrisonburg, Virginia. Active since 2002 and driven by brothers Jake and Pete Adams, Valkyrie draws from pre-metal style to create a rich and earthy heavy rock sound similar to the likes of Pentagram, Bang, Pagan Altar, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Jethro Tull, KISS and many others from that era. They are currently on Relapse Records with 4 studio albums under their belt and celebrating their 20th year as a band.
Dark metal quartet Valletta formed last May in Raleigh, NC. The project’s rhythm section is composed of two Mo’ynoq members: bassist Donald Boyd and drummer Justin Valletta. While Will Goodyear is lead guitarist here, he was behind a drum kit for the self-titled Between the Buried and Me debut in 2002. The band also features the snarl of Lord Almighty vocalist/guitarist Keenan Carroll.
A newly-formed four piece heavy metal outfit from Raleigh, NC, who’s mesmerizing soundscape of eerie, ominous grooves and tight riffage has garnered the attention of the authorities. Drawing inspiration from the NWOBHM and traditional rock and roll, the band has refused to succumb to the saying that, “Heavy Metal is Dead,” as they embark on their journey to grow their criminal enterprise to the audiences of the Southeast.
Named for the ancient Greek word for locusts, crickets, praying mantises, and all insects
with an exoskeleton. The inspiration for the name, as well as lyrical content, come from
reoccurring dreams. Akris’ sound is a blend of sludge, metal and noise; the current
lineup draws influences from bands like Helmet, Unsane, Mastodon, and the Melvins.
