In the summer of 2004 the two long-time friends Tomas Olsson and Fredrik Bergh decided to go back to their musical roots and start a metal band, they formed bloodbound
***********************
First of all I’d like you to fill us in on what’s happening in the Bloodbound at the moment ?
Andres : We have just released our new album War of Dragons and in a month will do our first tour as headliner. Therefore, it’s a lot of preparations for the tour right now.
Many people still don’t know the history of Bloodbound . So could you give us a short wrap-up of Bloodbound so far?
Andres : Tomas Olsson and Fredrik Bergh formed the band in 2004 to play some old school heavy metal. They had instant success whit their first album “Nosferatu”. In the early days, the band had some changes in the lineup, but since 2011 the lineup has been steady and we have developed our sound.
How did you get your name Bloodbound ?
Andres : From the HammerFall song whit the same name. It sounded good and it was easy to make a cool logotype.
What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far ?
Andres : Since I joined the band almost all of my childhood dreams has come true. Maybe the high point would be when we released Unholy Cross in 2011, it was the first real album I was a part of.
What motivated you to form BloodBound ?
Andres : The band was formed six years before I joined the band, but the reason why I joined the band was that BLOODOUND played the same kind of music that got me into metal as a kid.
How would you describe your band sound and which elements in your music do you thing make you stand out ?
Andres : We have never tied to reinvent the wheel. When the band started, you could hear the influences from bands like Helloween and Iron Maiden. Now we have developed our sound to a more epic power metal. We have arrangements that are more complex without leaving our roots. We are still influenced by Iron Maiden, but we find inspiration in band like Sabaton and Nightwish as well. I think that we have the perfect balance between old school heavy metal and epic power metal and that is what make us stand out from the others.
Who writes your songs?/ who writes the music who writes lyrics?
Andres : Tomas and Fredrik is the main songwriters, but anyone in the band is welcome to contribute. On our latest album, War of Dragons, our singer Pata has really grown as a songwriter.
Are you preparing a new album ?
Andres : The new album was released yesterday.
Can you tell me more about the new Album ?
Andres : It’s in the same vain as Stormborn, but it is a faster and more solid album.
You guys work hard. Like your influences, you release an album every one to two years. Where do you get your lyrical themes from?
Andres : The themes can be anything from a good story to something that is happen in real life. If it is something that happen in real life, we write the lyrics in a way that suits the other songs on the album.
You’ve covered vampires, Lord of the Rings… many dark themes. Which three bands most influenced you ?
Andres : We’re more influenced by good songs than by any bands. But if I should mention some bands I would say Helloween, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Nightwish and Sabaton.
Tell me about the band future ? Are you touring soon ?
Andres : We start our tour in Poland, march 28. Then we will do some festivals this summer.
I thank you very much for participating in this interview and sharing this information and your thoughts with us – these last lines are entirely for you. Any final words you would like to round off with – a tip, a recommendation or a thought for the future?
Andres : In times like this I would recommended anyone to stop waiting. Ask the pretty girl out on a date. Call your mother and ask her how she doing. Take your time and read a bedtime story to your kids. Help the old man across the street. Share a beer with your friend and listen to BLOODBOUND. Don’t wait until tomorrow, do it today. Thank you and rock on !
