Alcotopia – Interview –
Hello! How are you? How are things over there ?
Infernal hails \m/ we’re a bit tense, working on the finishing touches of the upcoming album, the ambition is demanding, but the fun of making good music still makes it a great experience, so things are good in general
Let us get to the point of this interview. How and when did you decide to form the band what do you want to achieve with this band ?
I’m Juozapas, started forming the band back in the spring of 2014, when I knew I had the resources to do it and a few good songs written and ready to be worked on by a full band. The top priority goal always has and always will be to make good metal music.
Can you tell me more about the new album ?
The new album will be fast, powerful and probably be 10 songs long and include everything that Alcotopia is playing live at the moment. We’ve already seen a prototype of the artwork and have a good idea on the name of the album, but we’re still yet to announce the full details.
How would you describe your band’s sound and which elements in your music do you think make you stand out ?
I’ve always taken originality seriously and figured, that a good way of achieving it is to have variety in music. The main reason, why we call our music “speed metal” is because it’s a fast and not very strictly defined genre, so it fits the fact that our music is fast, but the influences span over many different bands and genres of metal.
Who writes the lyrics in the band? Can you tell us what the lyrical theme of each song that you have included in your new album is ?
Our vocalist Laurynas wrote the lyrics of all of the songs on the upcoming album. The lyrical themes on the album span from mental disorders to politics to good old hardcore alcoholism. In general it’s about the fucked up personalities in all of us.
How do you feel about your album? Is there anything that you would like to bring to speed metal ?
A lot of hard work has gone into making this album, so the excitement is over the top. I hope that Alcotopia’s new album can bring back the craziness of old school speed metal back into the modern speed metal scene. Many of today’s speeders have sacrificed aggression and madness for melody and technicality, where Alcotopia’s music is made to have both of these great traits.
I think that you have been asked so many questions all these years. I would like from you to think of a question that you have never been asked before or you would like to be asked and also answer it… ?
Well, we’re rarely asked about how we came up with our band name, so… In the early days of Alcotopia, we had way more alcohol, than songs and the lyrics of the songs that we had at the time we’re either about politics or alcohol. So at the time we thought, that “Alcotopia” was a good summary of the two themes.
Do you think that the new album can bring new fans to the band ?
The new album can definitely bring new fans, it’s our debut, after all. If we play our cards right, we’ll get it widely distributed, to reach many ears around the world, after that the music should do a good job of recruiting new fans and supporters on it’s own.
Thanks for your time answering my questions. I wish you the best of luck. Please close the interview in any way you like…?
Thanks for the interview and the time preparing the questions! It’s always great to get a chance to connect to fans across the border! Cheers and good thrashing, fellow metalers \m/
